The Money Printer: how it works

Free money, the fake kind. The Money Printer is a virtual money simulator: hold the button, print money, and see how long it takes to break the universe. Nothing here is real money, and nothing is ever charged to you.

How it works

Hold the PRINT MONEY button, or press Space or Enter while it is focused. Each print adds $1,000 plus 3.5% of your current balance, so the growth compounds: slow at first, then absurd. Turn on Auto-print and pick a speed from 1 to 10 if you would rather watch.

As your balance passes each rank, the background changes, the falling objects change and a short flash and chime play. At one decillion dollars the balance becomes $∞, the universe gives out, and you get a finale and a shareable image.

Big numbers, explained

The balance switches to short names once it passes a million. This is what each label means.

NameSizeShown as
thousand1 followed by 3 zerosK
million1 followed by 6 zerosM
billion1 followed by 9 zerosB
trillion1 followed by 12 zerosT
quadrillion1 followed by 15 zerosQa
quintillion1 followed by 18 zerosQi
sextillion1 followed by 21 zerosSx
septillion1 followed by 24 zerosSp
octillion1 followed by 27 zerosOc
nonillion1 followed by 30 zerosNo
decillion1 followed by 33 zerosDc

A decillion is the largest number the game counts to. A trillion is a thousand billion, so a decillion is a trillion trillion trillion.

Frequently asked questions

Is this real money?

No. It is virtual money for fun, like Monopoly money. Nothing can be withdrawn or spent, and nothing is ever charged to you.

Is this really free money?

It is free to play and the money is fake. You can print as much as you like and nobody has to pay for it. If you are looking for real money, this is not it.

Can I print infinite money?

Almost. You print until your balance reaches one decillion dollars (a 1 followed by 33 zeros). Then the display flips to $∞, the universe gives out, and you can restart and do it again.

What is the highest amount I can reach?

One decillion dollars, written 1e33. That is 1,000 nonillion, and it is where the game ends.

How long does it take to reach the end?

The ending is at 1e33, one decillion dollars. That takes 1,911 prints. Holding the button prints about 11 times a second, so a full run takes roughly three minutes. Auto-print is faster: about 35 seconds at speed 5 and about 17 seconds at speed 10.

What happens at the end?

A big bang finale, the words “You won,” and a shareable “I broke the universe with money” image you can save or send to friends. Then you can press to restart.

Does it cost anything to play?

No. There is no signup, no download and no ads in the way.

Is it safe? Does it save my data?

The game runs entirely in your browser. It does not ask for any personal information, and it does not save your progress, so refreshing the page starts over.

Can I play on my phone?

Yes, it is built for phones. Devices and browsers that support it also buzz briefly on each print.

What are the ranks?

There are 13, from Comfortable at $1,000 up to The universe pays you rent at one nonillion dollars. The full list is above.
